What Is A Verdigris Finish?

Verdigris is the name of the greenish turquoise film that forms when copper, brass or bronze is oxidised due to being exposed to air and weathering. The most famous example of a verdigris finish is The Statue of Liberty, which used to have a reddish copper hue before it weathered.

A verdigris patina was traditionally used to protect bronze and copper objects, which is why period architecture and furnishings feature the greenish colouring.

Verdigris Light Fixtures
